Costa Rica and Panama, Post #4

The next day, we paid Mac to take us to Red Frog Beach, a National Park, about 25 minutes from our place by boat.  You first pull up to a tiny dock and shack where you pay to get into the park, then you take about a 20 minute walk through a rainforest to get to the beach.  People have seen monkeys, sloths and all kinds of animals on this little walk.  (Not us, and I so desperately wanted to see a sloth!  O well!)
The park is called Red Frog beach because of these tiny poisonous frogs that live on the island. Well, about a month before we got there, they had a storm that ruined a bunch of beaches in the area.  This one included.  The beach was still great, and we had plenty of time to play in the waves, but the only red frogs we saw were the ones these cute kids would hold out for you to touch.
That night, we went out to dinner for New Year's Eve.  After dinner, we ended up at a Rasta Bar called, Cap'n Tutix.  We had fun listening to the live music waiting for the countdown.  At about 11:45 everyone started going outside for the countdown.  We were blown away when the clock struck MIDNIGHT!  Earlier in the week, we had noticed that they were selling HUGE fireworks right out of the grocery store.  Even little kids were carrying around full packs of black cats and crazy fireworks.  So, when the clock hit midnight, everyone in town started lighting off these fireworks at the same time, right in the middle of the street.  It was like a firework show here, but throughout the entire town.  It was unbelievable!!  Everywhere you looked, there were these huge firework shows.  Needless to say, Chris and Erin and I stayed out pretty late that night.  We were having way too much fun to go to bed :)

Mom and Dad!

This kid was so cute!  As soon as he caught your attention, he'd ask "Tiene money?"  He even asked Lindsay, "Tiene Cookies?"

We had a ton of fun on this beach, but there were lots of coral and rocks you had to watch out for.
